The end results

So before I go into details about the images I'll let you look at them first and see what think of them.

We took elements from the original photoshoot to create a series of images inspired by that message - mainly we tried to create 'Brassai' - Esque atmosphere present in the photos, which we knows what most likely inspired Day herself. We thought that the message within the photograph was that despite the fact that many people can be included within a show, there is always a star and the focus will always on them. We wanted that elements intimacy, which we achieved through the model always looking at the camera, while the other girls are like props. Olives and other sludgy colours were used to retouch the images, reflecting some of the words we chose to inform our shoot (grunge, raw). Pops of colour are from the makeup itself, such as vibrant eye shadow palettes. The models makeup is dark and smudged from the original shoot, we wanted to reflect the dance element through a modern day house party.

As I spoke about in my pervious blog we wanted to take it from the perspective of a student night out, which I feel is what these three images represent. The first image shows how the night starts with the models getting ready to how it ends. The second image shows how the night is starting to escalate, showing a 'pre-drinks' environment but rather than just alcohol we have really taken on the concept on the relationship between Day and Kate Moss, so it was decided to show the model creating lines to suggest the use of 'cocaine' this is quite a compromising image and is something that we as students know happens but its never captured in this way.

For the third image we decided that we wanted to show it almost through the eyes of the subject, in this case the model who has featured in the previous two images. Through the editing process we made the image appear blurred, almost through drunk eyes; although quite a simple edit by just layering the same image on top of each other a slightly out of line it has resulted with quite a big impacted. However, on feedback both within group discussion and from are lectures it was pointed out that this image could of been mistaken as a campaign image for 'stop smoking', this is due to the camera angel and how it pulls focus on the cigaret packaging on the table, in the foreground of the image.

Overall I found this brief quite fun to carry out, I haven't put together a photoshoot for quite sometime so I was over the moon when we were set this task. It has allowed me to use quite a number of the skills that I have picked up so far throughout the course, allowing us to show off are creative abilities before we break up from christmas.

Now, although I am pleased with the results I do feel that if given the chance to do this photoshoot again that there are a number of things that I would change, the biggest being that we should of produced practice shots before to experiment with the staging, angels, how the lighting can be used etc. this would of helped us with the end results making them more refined as it would of allowed us to see what did and didn't work within are initial ideas before the final images were taken. As I feel that the images that were taken seem quite thrown together appearing as if little thought had been put into them, as I found it hard to select three images that really stood out for me personally.

But as I have said this being the first brief of this type that we have had, I am pleased with the outcomes that we managed to produce as a group within the time allowed.
