June this year Alexandre Wang took over as CEO and chairman of his namesake brand from is mother (Ying Wang chairwoman) and his sister-in-law ( Aimie wang chief executive), as well as taking on these rolls he is still working as creative director.

11 years ago in 2005 when the company was found with both Ying Wang and Aimie Wang along side Alexander, with brother Denise Wang. This all comes after the designer left his position at Balenciaga in 2015 after 3 years; where he took the position of creative director, this move comes with he aim of focusing more on his own namesake brand.

So where did it all start for this empowering designer, at the age of 21 he lunch his label, after dropping out of Parsons school of design in 2004, his first collection was based on knitwear featuring six unisex silhouettes. His label soon evolved into more contemporary sleek designs with him debuting his first runway collection in Autumn/ Winter 2007 at New York Fashion week. The aftermath of the show was amazing for this (at the time) new designer with Anna Wintour being one of his key supporters, brought attention to his designs receiving a top award from the Vogue/CFDA Fashion Fund in 2008 with a su of $200,000 and the following year he was announced as the winner of the Swarovski Womenswear Designer of the year and as the winner of the Swiss Textiles Award; He had a very busy first couple of year and thing only grew from here.

He now produces both collections for Men's and Women's wear; T by Alexander Wang for men and Women, footwear and accessories. His aesthetic remains true within all of his line, and is seen as inspiration to many people, mainly women who are taking on his so called "off duty model" looks, his ascent within the fashion world has resulted in him being seen as a poster boy of fashion's new establishment, but also as one of fashions greatest sensations of this century.

It appears that after gaining knowledge and experience from one of the fashion industry most revered businesses, with new skills that he can take on an apply to his own label that he moved back to New York feeling revitalised which is where it appears that this big move in his career came from, seeing him self as (in his own words) "an American brand of Asian descent with European training."

From where he started to where he is now it has been a whirlwind journey in just over decade, it is believed that the business turns over $150 millions in revenues, something that he probably only dreamed of when is sent off an application for the Parson's school of design, employing over 300 people in there major cities to the fashion industry New yORK, Paris and Hong Hong.

Its a wonder how he is managing all of this, I mean its not every day that you go from being creative director of one company to, creative director of your own label, chief executive and CEO but hats off to him for doing all of this as well as still producing mesmerising collections.

Heres just a little something Alexander Wang had to say on his new move;

"I want to thank my family, Ying, and Aimie for their tireless efforts toward building the business we have today," Alex said in a statement. "The business side has always come naturally to me, and with my full-time return to New York, I want to focus on my brand’s strategic growth. Now is the right time to fully synchronize the creative and business aspects of the company and to continue strengthening the dialogue we have with our customers. It has always been my goal to create brand value, and to be a brand with integrity and purpose." - Fashionista
